Plagiarism Policy

All new submissions are automatically screened by Editorial Office using iThenticate.

The editorial board of Middle East Studies complies with the following rules for plagiarism policy:

1. The articles with an overall similarity index of greater than 20% are rejected without proceeding for the formal peer review. In such cases, the author(s) will be asked to re-revise the article within three weeks.

2. Similarity index for single source must be equal to or lower than 3%.

3. “Exclude Bibliography: ON, Exclude Quotes: OFF, Exclude Matches: OFF" must be selected for the iThenticate report.

4. Editors may also choose to run a similarity report at any other point during the review process or pre-publication.

5. Also, regardless of the similarity rate, any statement and / or similarity in blocks that are taken from a source and not referenced to the relevant source are returned to the author without being taken into the evaluation process.

6. The above-mentioned rules are accepted by all authors who have uploaded articles to the Journal.
