Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Legal/Private Ethics Committee Permit
Dear author(s),
As it is known, the TR Index-Journal Evaluation criteria were updated to be implemented in 2020, and the articles related to the ethics committee approval, which should be mainly in scientific research, were detailed. The “documents and information requested for studies requiring ethics committee approval” stated under the heading of ethical rules are not expected to be applied for studies submitted in the previous years, during the evaluation process or accepted. It will be mandatory for publications whose process starts in 2020.
EXPLANATION and INFORMATION on TR Index Code of Ethics
The articles related to the Code of Ethics, which were included in the previous years in the criteria, were detailed in 2020 with explanations, and it was assumed that permissions were obtained for studies requiring ethics committee approval in the field of research, and the issue of “including information about permission in the article” was added to the criteria.
QUESTION: Is ethics committee approval required for all articles?
No. In the criteria, they are specified as articles that require “Ethics Committee Permission”.
Research requiring Ethics Committee permission are as follows:
All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches require data collection from participants using questionnaires, interviews, focus group work, observation, experimentation, interview techniques.
Ø Using humans and animals (including material/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,
Ø Clinical research on humans,
Ø Research on animals,
Ø Retrospective studies under the law on the protection of personal data,
Also;
Ø Stating that “Informed Consent Form” was obtained in case presentations,
Ø Obtaining and indicating permission from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires and photographs belonging to others,
Ø Statement of compliance with copyright regulations for the intellectual and artistic works used
QUESTION: Should retrospective Ethics Committee Permission be obtained for publications produced from studies and thesis completed in previous years?
Retrospective ethics committee approval is not required for articles that have used research data before 2020, that have been produced from master’s / doctoral studies (should be specified in the article), for which a publication application has been made to the journal in the previous year, and that has been accepted but not yet published.
QUESTION: With these rules of TR Index, are there any restrictions on publications outside universities?
No. Researchers who are not members of the university can also apply to the Ethics Committees in their regions.
ALSO:
Whether the articles to be published in the journals, require ethics committee permission and/or legal/special permission should be stated in the article. If these permissions are necessary, they should be presented from which institution, on what date and with which decision or issue number the permit was obtained.
If the study requires the use of human and animal subjects, it must be declared that the study was conducted under the international declaration, guideline, etc.
