Rubric Development to Assess Constructivism-Based Story Writing Skills at Primary School Level

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an assessment tool to evaluate the constructivism-based story writing skills at the primary school level. The study group consisted of 30 students of Grade 4 at a public primary school in Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul. Regarding the validity studies of the rubric, the content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CGI) were calculated using Lawshe technique. For the construct validity, the consistency in the scoring of the raters between the criteria was tested with Pearson Product-Moment Correlation. Within the scope of reliability studies, inter-rater reliability was tested with Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient and Cohen's kappa coefficient. According to the results, a valid and reliable analytic measurement instrument consisting of two main and eight sub-criteria was produced.

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı, ilkokul düzeyinde yapılandırmacılık temelli öykü değerlendirmeye yönelik bir araç geliştirmektir. Çalışma grubu, İstanbul ili Küçükçekmece’de bir devlet ilkokulunda 4. sınıfta okuyan 30 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Rubriğin kapsam geçerliği için Lawshe tekniği kullanılarak kapsam geçerlik oranı (KGO) ve kapsam geçerlik indeksi (KGİ) hesaplanmıştır. Yapı geçerliğinde puanlayıcıların ölçütler arası puanlamalarındaki tutarlılık Pearson Momentler Çarpım Korelasyonu ile test edilmiştir. Güvenirlik çalışmalarında Cronbach’s Alpha iç tutarlılık kat sayısı, Cohen’s Kappa katsayısı ile puanlayıcılar arası güvenirlik test edilmiştir. Sonuçlara göre, 2 ana ve 8 alt ölçütten oluşan analitik nitelikteki geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı elde edilmiştir.
