Güney Kore İngilizce Eğitiminin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı tarihi ve sosyal açıdan ülkemizle bağlantısı bulunan ve bazı gelenekler açısından birbirine benzer öğeler taşıyan Güney Kore’deki günümüz yabancı dil eğitimini incelemektir. Araştırmada ülkenin kısa bir tarihçesi, ekonomik ve sosyal durumu ele alınmakta, Güney Kore’nin geçmiş ve günümüz İngilizce eğitim durumu kısaca açıklanmakta, yabancı dil sistemini etkileyen faktörlere yer verilmektedir. Çalışmada nitel veri analizi yöntemi olarak doküman inceleme yöntemi kullanılmış, Güney Kore Eğitim Bakanlığı belgeleri, ülkemiz Seul Büyükelçiliği belgeleriyle alan yazında konuyla ilgili yapılan çalışmalar analiz edilerek durum ortaya konmuştur. Çalışmanın sonucunda ülkenin İngilizce eğitimine önem verdiği, dilin daha iyi öğretilmesi için uzun yıllardan bu yana çeşitli çalışmaların gerçekleştirildiği ancak tüm bu çalışmalara karşın bazı sosyal ve ülkeye özgü durumlardan dolayı tam olarak istenilen İngilizce dil becerileri düzeyine ulaşılamadığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

The analysis of English education in South Korea

Abstract

The aim of the study is to examine foreign language education in South Korea which our country has had relations in terms of history and social bonds and some similarities in mutual customs. The study covers the history of South Korea in terms of its economy and social situation, investigates the past and and present situation in terms of English language teaching and depicts the factors effecting English language education in the country. Document analysis method, which is one of the qualitative analysis methods, has been used in the study and the materials obtained from South Korea Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign affairs, Turkish Embassy in Seul and other related documents available in the literature have been analysed in detail. The findings show that South Korea has given emphasis in English education for a long time, carried out many studies to increase the quality of the English education but it has not reached the desired results yet because of the some social, cultural and methodical reasons.
