In this study, hypothesis of the
master's thesis titled “A Research on Occupations in Turkish Children’s Novels”
is presented. The theoretical part which constitutes the hypothesis of the
thesis is structured by this study, because the theoretical basis on which
qualitative and quantitative data are grounded is relatively new in the field
and the literature is genuinely reviewed. Accordingly, the relationship between
children's literature and occupations is established, and the status of children’s
literature as being a source of occupational development is examined. Qualifications
of fictional children's literature as an occupational information source are presented.
The occupations included in fictional children’s literature and how they are
introduced are identified in general. Children's novels are examined in terms
of introducing the occupations in specific.
