Needs Analysis for a Moral Character Education Program at the Primary School Level

Abstract

In this research, it is aimed to investigate the moral character traits that senior students of the education faculty, representatives of non-governmental organizations in the field of education, parents of students, administrators and teachers working in primary schools want to develop in primary school students. This research is modeled with the basic qualitative research pattern. In order to obtain the data of the study, the participants required for the interviews to be made were determined using the convenience sampling method by taking easy accessibility and volunteering into consideration. In order to collect qualitative data of this research, the literature was made use of and “Semi-Structured Interview Form for Determining Moral Character Traits” was prepared by the researcher. The qualitative data obtained from this research were analyzed through content analysis. Based on the results of the research some moral values, socio-moral issues to be morally reasoned, moral behaviors, and moral personality traits were suggested for a character education program at the primary school level.

İlkokul Düzeyinde Ahlaki Bir Karakter Eğitimi Programı İçin İhtiyaç Analizi

Abstract

Bu araştırmada, eğitim fakültesi son sınıf öğrencilerinin, eğitimle ilgili sivil toplum kuruluşlarının temsilcilerinin, öğrenci velilerinin, ilkokullarda çalışan yönetici ve öğretmenlerin, ilkokul öğrencilerinde geliştirilmesini istedikleri ahlaki karakter özelliklerinin araştırılması hedeflenmektedir. Bu araştırma, temel nitel araştırma deseniyle modellenmiştir. Çalışmanın verilerini elde etmek amacıyla yapılacak görüşmeler için gerekli katılımcılar, kolayda örnekleme yöntemiyle, rahat ulaşılabilirlik ve gönüllülük ilkeleri gözetilerek, belirlenmiştir. Bu araştırmanın nitel verilerini toplamak için araştırmacı tarafından, konu ile ilgili alan yazından yararlanılarak “Ahlaki Karakter Özelliklerini Belirlemeye Yönelik Yarı Yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu” hazırlanmıştır. Bu araştırmadan elde edilen nitel veriler, içerik analizi yoluyla analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara dayalı olarak ilkokul düzeyinde bir karakter eğitimi programına yönelik bazı ahlaki değerler, ahlaki olarak muhakeme edilecek sosyo-ahlaki sorunlar, ahlaki davranışlar ve ahlaki kişilik özellikleri önerilmiştir.
