In this study equilibrium equations of the simply
supported orthotropic thin plates were derived and solved with the double
Fourier series. These orthotropic plates were loaded with vertical to the mid
plane. Depending on the type of load, the double Fourier series expansion
coefficients of the vertical loads varies. Unlike the isotropic plate, the
orthotropic plate material properties are in the form of two different
elasticity moduli, Poisson's ratio and shear modulus. Depending on these
properties, the plate bending rigidities are calculated differently. Equilibrium
equations are also derived by using these rigidities. These equilibrium
equations are solved using double Fourier series. A computer program has been
developed to solve the problem. Simply supported orthotropic plates at the four
edges were investigated according to various loading conditions. Vertical
displacement and moment values are calculated for all the points of the mesh
formed in the orthotropic plate. These calculated values are presented in
graphics. It has been shown that the results obtained for the mid point of the
orthotropic plate are in great agreement with the results in the literature by
solving the related literature examples.
