COVID-19 Pandemisinde Üreme Sağlığı ve Modern Aile Planlaması Yöntem Danışmanlığı

Abstract

Reproductive Health and Modern Family Planning Method Counseling in the COVID-19 Pandemic

Year 2023, Volume: 6 Issue: 2, 497 - 504, 01.09.2023

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic poses an important risk to reproductive health, such as sexual violence and increased unwanted pregnancy. Reproductive health and family planning services should be discussed as a priority during the pandemic, and contraception and prevention of sexual violence against women should be included in health services. In the pandemic process, directing health resources to combat the pandemic is an obstacle to access to family planning services. In order to ensure the continuation of consultancy services, the needs of individuals should be given priority by developing innovative strategies. In order to prevent COVID-19 infection, planning should be done to minimize contact with the healthcare provider while providing the counseling service. Couples should be informed about individual family planning methods and the period of use of the methods they use should be extended. After special situations that require health contact such as birth and abortion, the opportunity for counseling and method use should be evaluated. In cases where face-to-face meetings are required, face-to-face service should be provided, and the remaining services should be offered via virtual health options. Continuity of family planning counseling should be provided to individuals infected with COVID-19. By providing reproductive health and family planning consultancy services to all individuals, it is possible to protect and improve women's health by preventing unwanted pregnancies. For this reason, it is important that nurses and midwives, who have the most interaction with women and couples, continue their counseling services during and after the pandemic.
