The aim of this research was to carry out the adaptation study of the "Biodiversity Literacy Assessment instrument" in Turkish. A total of 714 middle school students, studying in the 6th and 7th grades of 10 secondary schools during 2021- 2022 academic year, participated in the study. The instrument developed by Braus et al. (1996) consists of two parts including a likert type scale and a test comprises of multiple choice items. Explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis was performed for the items in the Likert type section of the scale. For the adaptation of the multiple choice section, item difficulty and item discrimination analysis were carried our. The analysis revealed an adapted biodiversity literacy assessment instrument that contains a 27 items likert type scale and a test including 30 multiple choise items. The results obtained show that the adapted scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool that can be used to determine the biodiversity literacy levels of secondary school students.
