The Effect of Trunk and Hip Anthropometric Measurements on Endurance in Young Healthy Individuals

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the relationship between physical characteristics and anthropometric measurements and endurance in healthy young individuals. The population of the study consisted of a total of 130 healthy individuals, 50 male and 80 female, aged between 19 and 40, who did not have any systemic disease and did not have a problem that would prevent them from completing muscle endurance tests. The data of the research; sociodemographic characteristics, physical characteristics, anthropometric measurements and trunk endurance tests created by the researchers by examining the literature. Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Spearman Correlation analysis and Bonferroni correction for multiple tests were used in the statistical analysis of the data. In this study, the circumference measurement values outside the hip were found to be significantly higher in males (p<0.05), and the trunk endurance test times of males were also significantly longer (p<0.05). Both the circumference measurement values and the trunk endurance test results were found to be significantly different in the 3 groups divided as underweight, normal and overweight+obese according to body mass index (p<0.05). All trunk endurance tests of the group with normal body mass index were found to be significantly higher than those of the lean group (p<0.01). A positive correlation was found between age, side bridging and prone bridging endurance test results, as well as height and weight and whole trunk endurance test results (p<0.05). Except for shoulder circumference, no correlation was found between other circumference measurements and trunk endurance. It was determined that as the shoulder circumference increased, the whole trunk endurance values increased positively.

Sağlıklı Genç Bireylerde Gövde ve Kalça Antropometrik Ölçümlerinin Endurans Üzerine Etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırma sağlıklı genç bireylerde fiziksel özelliklerin ve antropometrik ölçümlerin endurans ile ilişkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini 19-40 yaş arası herhangi sistemik bir rahatsızlığı ve kas endurans testlerini tamamlamayı engelleyecek bir problemi olmayan, gönüllü 50 erkek 80 kadın toplam 130 sağlıklı birey oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verilerini; araştırmacılar tarafından literatür incelenerek oluşturulan sosyodemografik özellikler, fiziksel özellikler, antropometrik ölçümler ve gövde endurans testleri oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin istatistiksel analizinde Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Spearman Korelasyon analizi ve çoklu testler için Bonferroni düzeltmesi kullanılmıştır. Bu araştırmada kalça dışında yapılan çevre ölçüm değerleri erkeklerde anlamlı olarak fazla bulunmuştur (p<0,05) ek olarak erkeklerin gövde endurans test süreleri de anlamlı olarak fazlaydı (p<0,05). Vücut kitle indeksine göre zayıf, normal ve kilolu+obez şeklinde ayrılan 3 grupta hem çevre ölçüm değerleri hem de gövde endurans test sonuçları anlamlı olarak farklı bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Normal vücut kitle indeksine sahip olan grubun gövde endurans testlerinin tümü, zayıf olan gruba göre anlamlı olarak fazla olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0,01). Yaş ile yan köprü kurma ve yüzüstü köprü kurma endurans test sonuçları arasında ayrıca boy ve kilo ile bütün gövde endurans test sonuçları arasında pozitif ilişki bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Omuz çevresi dışında diğer çevre ölçümleri ile gövde enduransı arasında korelasyon bulunamamıştır. Omuz çevre ölçüsü arttıkça bütün gövde endurans değerlerinin pozitif yönde arttığı saptanmıştır.
